Meet the Artist
Artist Biography:
Jigna Patel is a non-traditionally trained contemporary abstract artist based out of the Chicago suburbs, whose path to painting started during her childhood in England. She first explored Art and Textile Design during her GCSE studies there, before moving to America and choosing a career in clinical pharmacy. After 16 years working in organ transplant and critical care, including eight of these years painting part-time for collectors all around the US and England, Jigna transitioned fully into art—channeling her healing energy through canvas instead of medicine.
Her work is guided by her Guru and the flow of divine energy. Rooted in the spiritual and restorative power of the natural world, her work examines humanity’s innate desire for connection, grounding, and transcendence through nature.
Using textured paste and palette knife techniques, Patel creates layered compositions of landscapes, animals, and organic forms set against ethereal backgrounds. Through the incorporation of mixed media and occasionally, fabric, her works evoke themes of hope, resilience, empowerment, and love, inviting viewers into spaces of reflection, healing, and spiritual connection.
Artist Statement:
My practice centers on creating textured and sculptural interpretations of nature set against ethereal abstract backgrounds. The juxtaposition of dreamlike atmospheres with rough, tactile surfaces allows each element to exist as both to be part of the story, exploring the intersection between the physical world and the spiritual dimensions that often remain unseen.
Through this process, I seek to create spaces for reflection, resilience, and inner connection. My work invites viewers to recognize their own strength and capacity for transformation while fostering a sense of spiritual grounding beyond specific religious iconography. Instead, the work encourages an awareness of the divine presence within oneself and the natural world.
Guided by intuition, spirituality, and the rhythms of nature, each piece unfolds through layered textures, fluid movement, and luminous forms that evoke cycles of renewal, healing, and awakening. Using mixed media, fabric, and unconventional tools, I push the boundaries of depth and materiality to create immersive visual experiences rooted in hope, empowerment, and love. Ultimately, my paintings serve as portals for contemplation, upliftment, and soulful connection to something greater than ourselves.
